It’s currently Wednesday, and I’m still riding the high of positivity from this weekend.
I walked into Stafford Wool Gathering really not knowing what to expect. I had in mind a completely different idea fo the venue and vibe (for whatever reason), and setting up on Friday I was so pleasantly surprised by the size of the venue, and excited for what was to come. This weekend was the debut for my ‘Cho Cho’ crochet capelet tutorial, which is available for free with the purchase of a 100g 4ply skein + a 20g mini skein, the yarn required to make the project. I was so nervous about displaying something I had made for the first time like this, but thankfully I received lots of lovely comments on it, and can’t wait to now see other people making their own!
It was also the ‘debut’ for my cutie pie crochet Christmas crackers, which went down a treat. They are a fantastic way to use up any DK Tencel, and will look so fabulous on the Christmas table! The tutorial and written instructions for these are available with any DK skein purchase in person from my upcoming shows.
Speaking of, next up is Left Bank Leeds vegan market (Sun 2nd Nov), where I am anticipating the majority of my profits will immediately be spent on the delicious offerings of the other stallholders.
After that, it’s the big one, Knit and Stitch Harrogate (19th-22nd Nov). It goes without saying, that the prep for this show is absolutely immense, and I feel like one of the contestants on Hole in the Wall just watching it approach and desperately trying to shape myself into a triangle. But, as my mum always says, nerves are just excitement in disguise, and I know deep down I really am thrilled about getting the chance to exhibit in Harrogate this year. After 20 years of supporting Japan Crafts, it’s time to leave Hall B and set up my own shop in Hall A. I am planning a big push for this one, so please do swing by stall A216 in Yarn Village if you are attending the show in November….and manifest no snow for that weekend, please!
Beyond the show, this weekend was a great opportunity for me to catch up with my mum and her girlfriend, who live just an hour from the venue. It was so lovely to be able to come home each day and see them and properly relax in front of an Only Connect marathon. We had a good brainstorming session regarding future plans for Maru Studio too, so watch this space.
