Welcome to Maru Studio!

Thank you so much for joining me in the studio today. The time is finally here and my website is ready to launch!

Maru Studio began as a crochet passion, something I first dabbled with as a child trying to make something to warm my mum’s nose in the winter. I set my crochet hook down (clearly I had peaked with my woolly snouts) for nearly 20 years before picking one up on a whim and just going for it. Now I keep my first attempt, a wobbly, knotty, sludge coloured ‘scarf’ hanging up as a reminder to just keep trying and failing, and trying again. These days, jumpers are my favourite make. I love working from the bottom up, trying different yarn textures and stitches, and pairing them with my signature romantic sleeves style.

Dyeing my own yarn wasn’t initially on my radar. I had always assumed it was messy, cumbersome, and generally hard work. I didn’t want to haul cauldrons around my tiny galley kitchen, or worry about Nutmeg breathing in powders. So I don’t. I have my own unique dyeing method, developed in my classic trial-and-error nature, which works for my artistic expression, and produces beautiful yarns in eye-catching colourways. I’m still at the start of my Maru Studio journey, so I’m certain my technique will evolve, but for now I’m enjoying creating one-of-a-kind variegations, as well as small-batch colours.

If you would like to say hello, or join me on this journey, please check out the Instagram (@maru_studio_uk), or YouTube (Maru Studio) pages, or drop me an email - marustudiouk@gmail.com.

I can’t wait to introduce you to all the lovely yarns currently floating around the studio, and I look forward to bringing them to various shows and markets throughout the year.

To get the ball rolling, I will be exhibiting at the Solihull Makers’ Market on the 14th and 15th of February, at Space@MellSquare.

Once again, thank you for all the support I have received from my lovely friends and family <3
